Our Journey Start Here

How We Met

(As told by Linar) I was working on my laptop at Starbucks when a man tapped his forehead while holding his phone and charger. He appeared to be grumbling to himself because his plug pin was not the standard in Indonesia. Oh yeah, another foreigner who arrived in Jakarta and forgot about the plug difference. Suddenly he turned his face and moved towards me. Damn, I should not have stared at him. (What happened next is one of the biggest “mistakes” of my life).

"Boleh ga saya pinjam chargernya ibu, karena saya lagi emergency butuh bateri handphone". (Dalam hati, ibu? kok aku ini ibu2? Dia yang om2, lagi bilang aku ibu) As an elegant girl, I definitely said yes. Starting with a brief conversation we exchanged Whatsapp numbers and met for our first date a few weeks later. Everything else is history.

Covid19, Jakarta, Bali & Kuala Lumpur

(As told by Linar) Our relationship had only been a few months when Covid began to hit Indonesia and the rest of the world. He was in Kuala Lumpur while I was in Jakarta. Long-distance relationships were challenging, especially when I was stucked in my room working from home. Our relationship was only connected by hours of video call. Those 3 months were among the toughest moments as we were still in the process of getting to know each other.

(As told by Mahir) We had a lucky break, a year later we got a long business project that could be done online. Given that Covid’s situation has not yet improved in Jakarta, we decided to move to Bali to be more focused. The cliché of work hard, play hard really applies here. We had great times and adventures, we literally did evertyhing together; from hitting the gym, snorkeling chasing turtles in Amed, learning to surf in Kuta, exploring all of the island's waterfalls, having fun at the beach clubs, had culineries adventures in Canggu and many more memories. Fast forward a year later, my parents traveled to Indonesia to meet the Linar's family. We both returned to Kuala Lumpur, and we tied the knot in March 2022. We eventually got married and I couldn’t be happier.
